Boards vote to support shared services, shared superintendent

Board of Education

The boards of education for Mundelein District 75 and District 120 each voted 6-1 in favor of a shared services and shared superintendent arrangement that would begin with the 2019-2020 school year. That is the time frame in which current District 75 Superintendent Andy Henrikson will retire from the district.

Current District 120 Superintendent Kevin Myers will take over the leadership of both districts and will be compensated by both districts proportionate to their enrollments. He is looking forward to the merge.
“This is an excellent way for both districts to work together in partnership for the common good of all our students,” Myers said shortly after the votes were cast. “We are now looking at how we will pool our talent and resources to have a unified goal of providing the best possible education for our students,” he explained.

Myers is completing his fourth year as District 120 superintendent and served as superintendent of Streator High School District 40 prior to that. He has additional experiences in teaching, coaching and administration at several other districts in Illinois and Indiana.

“We expect to create a productive synergy between the two districts, combining our efforts in providing top level educational opportunities for students,” Myers said. “At the same time, we will maintain and expand our working relationships with the other districts that feed into Mundelein High School. The education we provide from pre-school through high school is on target to be second to none,” he concluded.
