REVTRAK NOW UPDATED TO ACCEPT PICK UP AND SHIPPING ORDERS.
All of the teaching unit recipes and all of the personal favorite recipes of Mundelein High School Foods teacher, Jerri Craven, have been placed into a cookbook which is being sold to fund a scholarship in Craven’s name. The beloved teacher died unexpectedly in September.
Following her death, countless students and alumni commented on Facebook that they still make many of the dishes that Craven taught them in her classes. They also said that they wish they had saved the other recipes. With those comments, the idea was born to have a collection of both the coursework recipes and also many of the favorites that the students learned during the courses.
The book is divided into chapters that include appetizers, breads, breakfast, main dishes, side dishes and desserts. Some of the favorites include sloppy joes, spaghetti pie, Texas chicken quesadillas, zucchini bake, apple dumplings and many, many more. There are more than 250 pages of recipes in the book.
The inside cover of the book lists a dedication to all Foods students past, present and future at Mundelein High School.
“Please enjoy the book as it helps bring back good memories and good food…just the way Jerri would have wanted it,” said Kathryn Serby, one of the organizers of the book.
The cookbooks are on sale now for $10 each for in-person pick-up and $15 if it is to be mailed. RevTrak to be updated on Wednesday, Nov. 23.
