HallowSTEAM

A chance to drive a robot with the Robotics Team, hands-on activities led by STEM Inquiry and Research students, holding snakes, chemistry demonstrations performed by AP Chemistry students, STEM challenges led by Science Olympic students, a two- or three-story egg drop … These are just a few of the events that Pre-K through Grade 8 children and their parents can take part in during HallowSTEAM Night Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. All events are free and will take place in the three-story addition at Mundelein High School.

This annual event allows exposure to STEAM concepts and activities even if children are not enrolled in the actual courses. Microsoft representatives will also be on hand to share a “device bar,” which is a display of examples of new technology. In addition they will offer a 15-minute presentation about cyber bullying, a 15-minute presentation about cyber safety and Camp Know Where, where children will use Mixed Reality to insert themselves into the world of Stranger Things. They will be able to create their own creatures for the world and create a story or adventure that the kids from Hawkins might undertake whether that might be a journey to the upside down, a trip to the arcade or whatever else comes to their minds.

All area youth are welcome.
