Following an evening of speeches, talent performances and runway walks, Mr. Mustang 2013 will be crowned at Mundelein High School Saturday, February 23. The contest begins at 7 pm in the MHS Auditorium. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students with ID.
A Mr. Mustang Calendar is being sold for $10 with all proceeds going to Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation,a national organization whose mission is to eliminate pediatric cancer and to provide hope and support to those who are touched by it. Calendars are on sale near the front office during the lunch periods and will also be on sale during the Saturday night event.
Prior to the winter break, MHS senior girls voted for their favorites for Mr. Mustang and the top vote-getters then auditioned before an adult panel. The field was narrowed to 12 contestants who will perform for the audience and judges.
During the evening, the contestants will model formalwear, participate in group and individual talent presentations and recite a speech to their parents. After the panel of judges chooses five semi-finalists, the new Mr. Mustang will be crowned.
The contestants for the title include: Jason Begrowicz, Mark Kangas, Robert Knar, Eugene Lee, Joe Love, TJ Maple, Troy Peterson, Chris Psihogios, Chris Starck, John Syme, Daniel Szoke and Adam Vander Ploeg.
