Several MHS students earned awards at the FBLA state competition in Springfield.

Mundelein High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) landed seven students in the top ten places during the state competition on April 1 and 2. Three students qualified to go on to the FBLA National Leadership Conference competition which will be held in Chicago on June 24-27.

Isaac Fuksman, Kurt Dumblauskas, and Victoria Zherebna all qualified to go on to the FBLA nationals in Chicago. While only students who place fourth or higher are eligible to go on to the national competition, the MHS team had several more students win awards.

“It was so wonderful to have this competition in person,” said John Stowers, who co-advises the MHS club along with Chris Hoster. “Our seniors were especially thrilled to have this one last time to go to State, and it was so great to come home feeling like winners.”

Mundelein High School FBLA members took home the following awards for competitive events:

Victoria Zherebna, third place, Introduction to Financial Math; Isaac Fuksman, third place, Economics; Kurt Dumblauskas, fourth place, Introduction to Communications; Ashley Cline, sixth place, Business Communications; Xander Ede, sixth place, Website Design; William Fisher, seventh place, Introduction to Public Speaking; and Animesh Bijawat, ninth place, Personal Finance.

The Springfield meet was the first in-person state competition held since 2019.
