Mundelein High School’s Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Orchestra each earned superior ratings at the Northshore Jazz Festival held at Glenbrook South High School Jan. 21. The Jazz Orchestra took first place in their class as an AA second jazz ensemble while the Jazz Ensemble placed second in their class as an AA jazz ensemble.

Freshman Alto Saxophonist Garrett Munz was recognized at the event as an outstanding soloist.

In other band news, Junior Trombonist Karl Kirkpatrick has been selected as an All-State Musician this year. He will represent Mundelein High School at the Illinois Music Education Association Conference in Peoria January 26-28.
