Adolescent mental health is often misunderstood. This is the subject of an evening presentation sponsored by Mundelein United, a group of schools and organizations in Mundelein. Those include Mundelein High School District 120, Mundelein Elementary School District 75, Fremont Public Library, Mundelein Park and Recreation District, Mano a Mano and The Opportunity Coalition.

The presentation, set for Thursday, Dec. 5 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Fremont Library, 1170 N. Midlothian RD in Mundelein, will center on an overview of “We Are Not Invisible,” a recent research report from the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) concerning adolescent mental health issues, particularly with young Latino women.

According to the NWLC, a new report, co-authored with 13 Latina middle and high school students who live and learn in Philly, sheds light on the mental health challenges faced by Latina girls, toxic perceptions and approaches to mental health, and strategies for schools to do better.

All members of the Mundelein community are invited to learn more about adolescent health through this presentation.
