The boys volleyball program will remember members of the MHS family who succumbed to cancer by hosting a Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation match against Antioch High School in the Main Gym Friday, April 26, beginning at 5 p.m.
A 50/50 raffle will take place and Bear Necessities Bears will be available for a $20 donation. Donations to enter the game are $3 for kids and $5 for adults.
The game will be played in memory of the following:
- James M. O’Donnell, father of senior Maggie O’Donnell, who lost his fight with cancer in February 2019;
- Daisy Morales, MHS Class of 2014, sister of senior Eric Morales, who lost her fight to Fibrolamellar cancer on May 9, 2018;
- Noah Baker, son of MHS teacher Maureen Baker, who lost a battle with cancer in July of 2016; and
- Ian Turkula, a 2013 MHS graduate who died from brain cancer in January 2014.
- Donations may be made at the high school’s bookstore at any time prior to the game. They are tax deductible and checks should be made out to the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
“Please partner with the volleyball program to help fight cancer and to find a cure by coming to the match Friday, April 26, and by making a donation in memory of those who have lost their battles with cancer,” said George Dressen, head boys volleyball coach.
