Our Student Services department will be hosting an upcoming Family Wellness Night. This event was advertised in our weekly blog, but I wanted to take a moment to highlight this upcoming opportunity. Our staff will offer a few evening sessions throughout the year with the intent of educating guardians about topics relevant to supporting high school students. This first event is focused on mental wellness.
Our staff will inform families about the mental health supports available to students at MHS and how they can access them. Attendees will then have the opportunity to learn and practice some common strategies that support mental wellness so they can assist students in extending these practices into their daily routine at home and school.
The staff will demonstrate how a self-care model of support can help students manage stress, increase the ability to handle setbacks, and enhance their overall health and well-being. Some practices that will be covered include:
● Creating a self-care checklist
● Journaling
● Grounding
● Affirmations
● Mindfulness
This event will be hosted on Thursday, February 23 from 6:30-7:30 PM at MHS. Presentations will be available in English and Spanish. If you plan to attend, please fill out the RSVP form linked HERE so we know how many individuals to account for.
