Mundelein High School has hired Michael “Shane” McCreery as its first human resources director effective August 1, 2018. He will bring a number of relevant work experiences to the position.

“Our district staff has been growing steadily over the years and we decided it was time to have a human resources director to manage all aspects of the employee experiences,” said Kevin Myers, District 120 superintendent. “We look forward to having Shane on board to centralize all the different aspects of employee/employer relations.”

McCreery holds a bachelor of arts degree in English from Illinois College and a Juris Doctor degree from Ohio Northern University. As an attorney he is able to apply the rule of law to many employee-related experiences and play a key role in the hiring of exceptional staff members.

“My experience has taught me that leadership is an activity, not a position,” McCreery stated. “As such, I foster a culture of teamwork, place high value on continuous learning, and encourage respect for all aspects of the human experience,” he explained.

The new director is currently the director of Institutional Opportunity & Access/Title IX Coordinator at the University of Kansas. He has prior experience as the director of equal opportunity, ethics and access Title IX coordinator/university ethics officer and ADA coordinator at Illinois State University; deputy director of human resources title IX Liaison for elementary and secondary schools at the Illinois State Board of Education and as human resource specialist/EEO officer for the Illinois Department of Revenue.

“I have become fluent in navigating decentralized organizational structures by working as a trusted partner to resolve sensitive, complex and time-critical situations with a positive, kind, problem-solving, customer service approach,” McCreery said.

“It is my pleasure to welcome Shane to the MHS family,” Myers said. “He will bring his highly professional experience along with a philosophy similar to the Mundelein High School focus of equity, growth and collaboration.”
