The winning team at the MHS Honors Business Incubator Pitch Night is now a finalist in the INCubatoredu National Pitch competition.

The team, made up of five graduating seniors from Mundelein High School, was selected as one of the top 5 teams in the country by INCubatoredu. They will compete against four other teams from across the country in Chicago on July 11.

The winning team at MHS, made up of Elle Bank, Rayna Carreathers, Bella Feijoo, Addy Irwin and Kyra Ryba, created Safe Sip, a drink spiking detection product. The small, easy-to-use Safe Sip tests are transportable by a phone case attachment; the test itself changes color immediately when in contact with ketamine, a common ingredient in spiked drinks.

Michelle Sherwin-Petrucci, teacher for the Honors Business Incubator class said MHS had a number of very strong teams this year. But Safe Sip stood out among both local and national judges.

“I think Safe Sip has really touched on something that is a growing issue and concern for their customer segment,” she said. “The emotional appeal is there for this team. They are an amazing hard-working team that will move forward and find a solution to this problem.”
