“There are so many MHS graduates who have gone on to do great things in their careers, in their communities and their families,” said MHS District 120 Superintendent Kevin Myers. “It’s time that we find ways to recognize and honor the things that our alumni are doing.”
With that cornerstone idea, MHS staff members have instituted a Distinguished Alumni Award and recognition program to begin this year. Patterned after the work of many schools in the area and around the country, the awards will honor up to 10 graduates each year who have gone on to be successful in a variety of different ways.
The first Distinguished Alumni Awards Banquet will take place Saturday, Nov. 4, at the DoubleTree Hotel in Mundelein. Nominations for eligible graduates (those who have been out of high school for at least 10 years) are now being taken. Eligible alumni may be nominated by others and they may also nominate themselves. The deadline for nominating alumni is May 15.
Anyone may nominate a graduate for the award. To nominate alumni, follow the link here. For questions, please contact distinguishedalumniaward@d120.org.
“We are looking forward to starting the tradition of honoring a group of graduates each year who transitioned into adulthood here with us and have gone on to make positive contributions to society,” Principal Anthony Kroll said.
