MHS will host a Mental Health Awareness parent event on Monday, April 22 at 6 p.m. This 90- minute presentation will consist of two components: first, volunteers from the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) will give a presentation called Ending the Silence, designed to give audience members an opportunity to learn about mental illness through an informative slideshow, short videos, and a personal testimony from a young adult living with a mental health condition. The presentation outlines symptoms of mental health conditions and gives attendees ideas about how to talk with their children and work with school staff. For more information about Ending the Silence, please visit the NAMI website: https://www.nami.org/Find-Support/NAMI-Programs/NAMI-Ending-the-Silence.
The second part of the event will involve representatives from Mundelein High School’s student services staff who will give a brief presentation about the MHS efforts to inform students about mental health and about services provided to MHS students and families. MHS staff will also be available to answer questions at that time.
Those planning to attend the presentation should RSVP here. Thank you for partnering with MHS to support our students’ well being!
