Randy Lerner

Lerner has coached baseball at MHS for 11 years including his first year as varsity assistant, second year as freshman assistant and sophomore head coach since 2009. A Wheeling High School alum, Lerner was a three-year varsity letterman in baseball, all-conference his senior year, and Daily Herald All-Area Team senior year.

The new head coach holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the American College of Education. He student taught at MHS during the fall of 2006 and was hired at MHS as a math teacher in the winter of 2007. He has been math department chair since 2014. In addition, he has served a math team coach, coordinator for the Link Crew program and as lead sponsor for student leadership.

“I am excited and grateful for this new opportunity,” Lerner said. “I am looking forward to working with our players and coaching staff to continue to build on the great tradition of Mundelein baseball.”

Lerner replaces Todd Parola who recently retired from coaching baseball, a post he has held since 1995.

 Heather Ryan

Ryan has coached at MHS for the past six years as the head JV 1 softball team. She has also coached girls freshman B volleyball for two years and girls freshman A basketball for three years. A graduate of Royall High School in Elroy, Wisconsin, Ryan was a three-year varsity softball player, all-conference sophomore through senior years. She was also named Player of the Year in the conference her senior year.

Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and is currently completing her reading specialist master’s degree at Concordia University Chicago.

The new head coach has been a special education teacher in the Supported Learning Program for the past seven years and also served as a building mentor to first and second year teachers.

"I am honored and humbled to be selected as the new head softball coach for Mundelein High School,” Ryan explained. “It is a privilege and honor to coach these outstanding female student-athletes. I would not be in this position without the support of so many people throughout my coaching career. Some of these individuals include George Dressen, Brian Evans, and Brett Wilhelm--all outstanding head coaches who have positively impacted the life of so many athletes. I am also grateful to Troy Parola and Dr.  Anthony   Kroll for providing me the opportunity to lead the Mundelein High School softball program."

Ryan replaces Brett Wilhelm.
