Mundelein High School students will begin the new school year when they return on Tuesday, August 13. This will be a regular school day for all students as they follow their eight-period class schedule. First period begins at 7:45 a.m. Monday, August 12, will be an all-day Institute Day for staff.

Incoming freshmen will have an orientation day on Friday, August 9, from 7:45 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. They will learn all about navigating the campus, pick up their Chromebooks, learn about school life at MHS and tour the building. The majority of the day’s activities will be led by the MHS Link Crew, a group of older students who help the new freshmen make the adjustment from middle school to high school. This is a year-long program with the Link Crew members staying in touch with the freshmen throughout the school year.

The faculty/staff will include some new members this year. They include:

Nathen Ayres, technical support specialist; Michelle Bank, transition program coordinator; Amber Bolke, special education instructional aide; Vince DeFrancisco, wellness teacher and head football coach; Rebecca Elkins, school nurse; Emma Grochowski, world languages teacher; Yaritza Luna, English teacher; Kenneth Mooney, special education teacher; Sharon Rzyski, speech/language pathologist; Cathy Sturm-Logsdon, social worker.

In addition, several current staff members have changed jobs within the school. They include Tom Buenik, now guidance department chair; Jamie DiCarlo from special education director to assistant superintendent for student services; Stacey Gorman from director of curriculum and instruction to assistant principal for teaching and learning; and Mike Pope from assistant principal to assistant principal for student services.
