Mundelein High School Senior, Gillian Beginski, has been awarded the Presidential Scholarship from Millikin University in Decatur, IL. It is a full-tuition scholarship, renewable for four years. According to Millikin officials the Presidential Scholars are leaders in Millikin’s Honors Program.

Beginski wasn’t attracted to Millikin just because of the scholarship. She has other reasons as well.

“I visited the school five times starting in my freshman year because I loved going back and because I was recruited to play for the soccer team where I will be playing in the fall,” Beginski explained.

She plans to major in political science and may double major in history or business. “I’d love to go to law school and either work with constitutional or criminal law,” she said.

During her high school career Beginski was involved in Model United Nations, Girls Soccer, Academic Team, Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, journalism and as a member of 26th District Senator Dan McConchie’s Youth Advisory Board.

She also attended the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State and Girls Nation this past summer in Washington DC. While there, she participated in philanthropic projects to assist veterans.
