Mundelein High School students were big winners in the Mundelein Art Commission’s high school writing contest. Sophomore Zach Scott took first place for his story, "Nightingale;" Freshman Isabel Sioson, second place tie for "The Girl in the Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring;" Sophomore Caitlin Morey, second place tie for "Streets;" Freshman Ayden Matthew Boudreaux, third place tie for "Bad Friends;" and Freshman Hope Peterson, third place tie for "The Strawberry Masterpiece." In addition, Honorable Mentions went to Freshman Maddie Wade for "The Day Life Changed Forever" and Junior Emily Perez for "Living the Dream."
They and the winners of the middle school contest will be recognized at the May 14 (tentative) Village Board meeting, where they and their families will be honored at a reception and receive their cash prize and a copy of the book in which the winning stories will be published.
