MHS students place in FBLA state competition

Several MHS students placed in the top 10 finishers at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)’s 2023 State Leadership Conference on April 14-15 in Springfield.

The top finishers included: 2nd place winner and nationals qualifier Kurt Dumblauskas (Business Communication); 5th place winners Animesh Bijawat and Devin Boongaling (Digital Video Production; 5th place winner Xander Ede (Website Design); 6th place winner Azael Sanchez (Economics); 7th place winner Thomas Russ (Personal Finance); eighth place winner Charlotte Oliver (Advertising); and 9th place winner Jared Reyes (Supply Chain Management).

MHS students either took objective tests or presented on a wide variety of topics. In addition, the Mundelein attendees served on the production team for the live-streamed general sessions.

A total of 14 MHS students participated in the competition which included more than 70 events against students from throughout the state. They are senior Jared Reyes, juniors Animesh Bijawat, Devin Boongaling, Kurt Dumblauskas, Maxwell Dunlap, Xander Ede, William Fisher, Charlotte Oliver, Thomas Russ, Azael Sanchez, Hanna Tenson, and Victoria Zherebna, sophomore Victor Alva, and freshman Jacob Hamberg.

MHS Faculty sponsors Chris Hoster and Paul Franzen also helped organize and supervise the event, and run the production team.

In addition to running the Mustang Nation Spirit Store, MHS students prepare for careers in business through academic competitions, leadership and service development, and educational programs.
