A total of 11 MHS students placed at the March 12 Illinois Science Olympiad.
The Mundelein High School Science Olympiad team placed in 11 of 23 events including a first place finish in remote sensing during the College of Lake County’s Illinois Science Olympiad Regionals. The competition was held virtually on March 12.
Each of the 23 events included two students each from Varsity and JV teams at MHS. While MHS did not advance to the state competition this year, the team is aiming for that level next year.
Winners (and the category they competed in) included: Max Keil (Wright Stuff); Ava McQuain (Ornithology, Rocks and Minerals); Shruthi Menon (Ornithology, Ping Pong Parachute, Wright Stuff); Sara Choi (Ornithology); Ciara West (Ornithology); Nia Buxton (Ping Pong Parachute, Trajectory); Sreya Kannappan (Remote Sensing - first place); Jay Banerjee (Gravity Vehicle, Trajectory); Megan Nickl (Rocks and Minerals); Emilio Garcia (Gravity Vehicle); and Gwen Alviar (Remote Sensing - first place).
Congratulations to the students who represented MHS so well!
