MHS honored former Mustang tennis stars Ari Dechter, Class of ‘13, Ryan Jump, Class of ‘12 and Paige Parola, Class of ‘11 during its inaugural Ring of Honor awards on June 12.

The Ring of Honor is designed to honor players and coaches who have made a great contribution to the program. Players are given this recognition both for achievements playing tennis at MHS and achievements since leaving high school. Coaches will be awarded for their work, their success and their efforts for Mundelein Mustang Tennis.

The induction includes an engraved plaque for each honoree. They will also be honored with a sign on the tennis court fence. Future Ring Honor Awards ceremonies will be held on the second Sunday in June. The current coaching staff will vote on the recipients.

Ari Dechter is a four-time All-State singles player who finished 4th place in state competition in 2010. She was also first-team All-State in 2011 when she finished in the top eight at state. After graduation, Ari played at Bradley University and graduated with 18 single-season and career school records including the most career singles (82), doubles (69) and combined wins (151). She was the first-ever Bradley Women’s Tennis player to earn all-conference honors.

Paige Parola was a four-time state qualifier in doubles for Mundelein from 2007 to 2010. Paige was part of two All-State doubles performances, she won the first round at state each of her four years. She earned a total of 14 points at state for Mundelein High School.

Ryan Jump was a four-year varsity starter at MHS and is either first or second in career wins for Boys Tennis. He went on to play college tennis at Carthage College where he finished with the most singles wins in school history. He3 was a three-year team captain at Carthage, the recipient of the 2016 CCWI Merle Chapman Leadership Award, a four-time CCIW All-Conference player and a two-time NCAA Division III National Qualifier. Currently the Men’s and Women’s Coach at North Central College, Ryan led both teams to the Division III National Championships this past spring and was honored as CCIW Coach of the Year honors in both Women’s and Men’s Tennis.
