Mundelein High School will formally induct 61 students into the National Honor Society (NHS) in a ceremony to be held Monday, Oct. 5 through a remote Webinar slated to begin at 7 p.m. Links to join the webinar are located at the end of this news release.
The new inductees were chosen by a faculty selection committee based on the four principles of NHS, namely character, scholarship, leadership and service. Nancy Toland and Jennifer Fallon serve as advisors to NHS.
MHS Assistant Principal Michael Pope will open the ceremony followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by NHS Volunteer Coordinator Maddy Aquino. Community Volunteer Coordinator Sydney Boudreau will introduce the next part of the ceremony where the four qualities of NHS will be explained in English and other languages:
Scholarship: Spanish version, Sucely Marcos; English version, Hope Peterson. Service: Tagalog version, Isabel Sioson; English version, Lauren Carlson. Leadership: Korean version, Hannah Cho; English version, Elle Mishler. Character: Tamil version, Swetha Chandrasekar; English version, Abby Hammer.
Math Instructor Jeff Harding was chosen by the NHS members as the guest speaker for the evening which will be followed by the presentation of inductees by Sydney Boudreau and NHS Vice President Jeffrey Weiss. President Ilya Vynnyk will lead the recitation of the NHS Pledge and Dr. Anthony Kroll, principal will offer closing remarks.
