Mundelein Community Connection and the Mundelein Park District proudly present the 7th Annual Mundelein Fine Arts Festival, (MAF) a juried art festival showcasing the talents of 45 fine artists and craftspeople who work in a variety of media. The MAF will be held September 9-10 2017, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, at Kracklauer Park in downtown Mundelein, 100 N. Seymour Ave. The two-day event features top-notch artists, local musicians, tasty food, and kids’ activities. On Saturday, Home Depot-Mundelein will host a hands-on craft project for children.
At the arts festival, top-notch artists—local and from different states—will showcase beautiful paintings, photography, pottery, and jewelry. Also, artwork by select students from Mundelein High School will be highlighted. A committee of well-known judges will award cash prizes, the Kirk Players will award a $500 Emerging Artist Award, plus Purchase Awards, including the Village of Mundelein's Annual Purchase Award. Mundelein High School also will receive $2,000 in scholarship money to award to students pursuing art in college.
Artists will be located in the paved area for easy access by visitors and local musicians will perform throughout both days in the Gazebo in the Park, adjacent to the artists’ set-up. In just a few short years, the Mundelein Arts Festival has earned the reputation of a great family event with art, live music, entertainment, delicious food, and kids’ activities. Admission is free. Food vendors include Luke’s of Mundelein and Lauretta’s Italian Bakeshop.
“We are looking forward to welcoming the community to the arts festival. I credit the success of this event to all of our sponsors, volunteers, talented artists, and wonderful entertainers. Our volunteers help to make the artists feel welcomed by providing water and giving them breaks throughout the show. We also have tremendous support from the Mundelein business community. The business sponsorships make it possible for us to award scholarships to Mundelein High School students and many businesses sponsor ‘purchase awards.’ Our purchase awards reflect a businesses’ commitment to purchase art from the artists. This boosts sales and keeps our artists returning to the show year after year,” explains Christa Lawrence, Event Organizer and Marketing Manager, Mundelein Park and Recreation District.
