School District 120 officials are planning a series of Town Hall Meetings at Mundelein High School to educate the public about its April building referendum and offer tours of the school facilities. The first event is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m.

The Board is asking voters to support a $175 million project to renovate and expand areas of Mundelein High School. With $50 million already set aside, District  120 leaders are hoping to spend a total of $225 million on improvements to a 62-year-old building.

The plan includes expanding performing arts with a new auditorium, black box theater and expanded music rehearsal rooms; adding a field house for physical education, track and court sports, adding outdoor athletic spaces and a new competition gym; and expanding the cafeteria renovating the kitchen, improving school schedules by allowing more students to have lunch at the same time.

“If you’re looking for answers about the Mundelein High School building referendum, or just want to take a look inside the high school, we welcome you to attend one of our Town Hall Meetings over the next couple of months,” said Superintendent Kevin Myers.

Meetings begin with a one-hour presentation at 6:30 p.m. followed by a tour of key areas from 7:30-8:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at Mundelein High School, 1350 W. Hawley Street, Mundelein on the following dates: Wednesday, Jan. 25; Wednesday, February 8; Thursday, February 23; Wednesday, March 8; and Thursday, March 16.

Translation services are available upon request during either the presentation or the tour.
