Mundelein Theatre will present the story of Peter Pan character Wendy Darling after she returns from Neverland and has to grow up herself. The fall play, Lost Girl, written by Kimberly Belflower, will be performed on Oct. 26, 27 and 28 at Mundelein High School.

The play, written in 2016, answers the question of what became of Wendy Darling. Long after returning from Neverland, she decides that she must find Peter in order to reclaim her kiss and move on with her life. Along the way, she meets other girls who went to Neverland and learns she is not alone.

“This is a beautiful and moving coming-of-age exploration of first love and lasting loss,” said Jonathan Meier, the play’s director. “Though the story focuses on Wendy, we also get to see what has become of The Lost Boys, as well as Peter Pan. It is terrifically written, with opportunities for all in the cast to shine.”

Senior Grace DeMilio, who portrays Wendy, calls her an iconic character from literature.

“But the playwright has given her a very modern take, which has been exciting to work on,” DeMilio said.

Seniors in the cast are Stephanie Aquino, Guadalupe Duarte, Max Dunlap, Taylor Gates, Kailib Keblys, Julia Myrant,  Leandro Ocampo, Anastasija Rahmanova, Marissa St. Clair, Alex Torralba Rivera and Zoë Van Krey. Rounding out the cast are juniors Alex Benassi, Parker Dumalski, Arlo Fingerhut, Mia Joshi, Lia Kagan, Sara McHugh, and Sydney Olorvida. Mari Hoover is the assistant director and Aedan Hogan and Makenna Wald are the stage managers.

Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. along with a 3:45 p.m. matinee performance on October 27. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. The matinee performance on Friday is only $2 for MHS students. Tickets can be purchased online at www.mundeleintheatre.org. Tickets will also be on sale at the door, 30 minutes prior to each performance.
