The future of Mundelein Theatre will be on display on the Mundelein High School stage in their upcoming production of Becoming Juliet, by Dean Dyer. Known as the New Faces production, the cast is made up of freshman and sophomore students.

The show will be performed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 9, 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m., as well as 3:45 p.m. on Friday, November 10. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

Becoming Juliet is the story of a high school that is putting on a production of Romeo and Juliet. In the show, JJ Baker has never had the chance to play a leading role. Star actress Madison Engers has always been in the limelight, until JJ wins the role of Juliet. Her hopes for stardom may be in danger though after Romeo literally breaks his leg. The director knows the talented rebel, Dylan, would make the perfect Romeo, if he could be convinced to take the role. Rivalries and romance make this behind-the-scenes high school comedy a must-see.

“I am so excited to have 34 performers as a part of our show,” said Director Jeff Harding. Because of the number of interested students, Harding double-cast the show to ensure that everyone received an opportunity.

“Since there are two casts performing, we hope that people will take the opportunity to see each cast give their unique rendition of the show,” continued Harding. “I am always excited to direct the New Faces show each year. It provides a great opportunity for the younger performers in our school to get a positive experience in the theatre, as they hone their skills and prepare for future roles in our mainstage productions.”

The matinee performance on Friday is only $2 for MHS students. Tickets can be purchased online at www.mundeleintheatre.org. Tickets will also be on sale at the door thirty minutes prior to each performance. Payment at the door is cash or check only.
