The future of Mundelein Theatre will be on display on the MHS stage at the end of October. Completely Hollywood-abridged, by Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor, will be presented as the school’s New Faces Production. The entire cast is made up of freshmen and sophomores, as well as juniors and seniors who have never appeared on the MHS main stage. The show will be performed on Friday, Oct. 28 at 3:45 and 7 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. Tickets are a recommended donation of $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. The matinee performance on Friday is free for MHS students. Tickets can be purchased at the box office prior to each performance.
Developed by the Reduced Shakespeare Company (The Complete Works of William Shakespeare-abridged), Completely Hollywood-abridged is described as a seriously silly show biz satire. The play condenses 186 Hollywood film classics over the last hundred years into a compilation of classic cinematic clichés, plus a few brand new clichés. More than 30 cast members make up the company of Completely Hollywood-abridged, and are led by director Sara Gunther. “Not only is the play hilarious, it is perfect for a project like New Faces,” said Gunther. “The original production had three actors, but it can be expanded to accommodate a large group like ours.”
