MHS Teacher Leads Group Supporting Educators of Color

On the back wall of her classroom, Mundelein High School teacher Georgina Aguirre has a sign that reads: Explore. Learn. Grow. While that sign may be meant for her students, Aguirre will be living those words during the next two years as the new facilitator of an affinity group at MHS designed to support educators of color.

MHS Soccer's Dayton named Assistant Coach of the Year

Much of what MHS Assistant Soccer Coach Mike Dayton does for his team occurs behind the scenes. His work helping students with academics, college recruitment and life skills in general won’t make any headlines in the sports pages. But his work is noticed by his colleagues and now it has been recognized by the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association (IHSSCA).

The MHS Sophomore Class Leadership Team and the U.S. Marines are teaming up for the 2024 Toys for Tots drive! Please help us reach our goal of collecting 250 new, unwrapped toys by December 18th. You can drop off your donations in the boxes located by the front entrance.

A Crazy Murder Mystery at Mundelein Theatre

The future of Mundelein Theatre will be on display on the Mundelein High School stage in the upcoming production of “Noses Off”, by Don Zolidis. Known as the New Faces production, the cast is made up primarily of freshman and sophomore students. The show will be performed on Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 14-16 at 7:30 pm, as well as 2 pm show on Saturday.

Engineering Internship could land MHS grad back at high school

Jill Kennicott’s experiences as a student at MHS led her into the field of mechanical engineering. Now, there’s a chance that her internship as a student at Bradley University will bring her right back to her hometown high school.

This prestigious award, granted by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), identifies graduating high school seniors who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and exceptional potential for success in higher education.

MHS recognized for student success in Advanced Placement program

Mundelein High School has been named to the College Board’s 2024 Advanced Placement Program (AP) School Honor Roll, earning a Silver distinction. The recognition shows improvement at MHS, which earned a Bronze distinction in 2023. “This award reflects the hard work of our students, the support of their families, and the dedication of our exceptional faculty,” said Stacey Gorman, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.

Mundelein High School's infrastructure is aging beyond repair

Mundelein High School was the pride of the Mundelein area when it opened in 1961. Its 680-square-foot classrooms had seating for 20 desks. The building had a cutting-edge boiler system, glass block windows in the hallway, and an auditorium for band, orchestra, and theater programs. In the 63 years since it opened, these areas, along with the competition gym and the kitchen and cafeteria, have seen little change.
