School Board presents Coach Stocker with Excellence Award

MHS Wrestling Coach Craig Stocker was presented with the District 120 Award of Excellence in Education at the school’s Institute Day on Aug. 12. The award reflects the Board’s dedication to supporting a diverse community that fosters continuous growth in both staff and students. It also represents the effort behind providing equity, growth and collaboration.

MHS students among state champs in MS Office exam

Four Mundelein High School students placed as state champions this spring in the Microsoft Office Specialist Exam from Certiport, a provider of performance-based IT certification exams. Michael Berman placed second, Isaiah Alaban placed seventh, Cody Sliozis placed ninth and Zachary Nicklas placed tenth in the state. The exam is an industry-recognized certification program that validates skills in Microsoft Office applications.

All MHS varsity teams earn IHSA all-academic recognition

Every one of the Mundelein High School spring varsity teams matched the MHS teams from the fall and winter seasons by receiving the prestigious IHSA Team All-Academic award. It’s the first time in eight years that all varsity teams received this honor in the same school year. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence demonstrated by our student-athletes both in their sport and in the classroom,” said MHS Principal Alexandria Rios-Taylor.“

Fifty-nine MHS students named Illinois State Scholars

Mundelein High School Principal Alexandria Rios-Taylor has announced that 59 students from the MHS graduating class of 2024 have been recognized as Illinois State Scholars. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission [ISAC], the state agency committed to helping to make college accessible and affordable for Illinois families, confers this recognition to top Illinois high school students annually.

MHS music program listed among best in the nation

Mundelein High School has earned its place among the “Best Communities for Music Education (BCME)” in the nation. This unique and prestigious award is given by the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation. The award, a signature program of NAMM, recognizes and celebrates schools and districts for their support and commitment to music education and efforts to assure access to music for all students as part of a well-rounded education.

All-Time Classic Musical Comedy at Mundelein High School

Mundelein High School will present the quintessential musical romantic comedies, Guys and Dolls, at the Mundelein Theatre stage at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 through Saturday, April 27. There will also be a 2 p.m. show on Saturday. Set in Damon Runyan’s mythical New York City in 1950, the show features Frank Loesser’s brassy, immortal score, with the classic “Luck Be a Lady,” as well as “Adelaide’s Lament” and “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat.”

Mundelein team shines at FBLA Leadership Conference

Mundelein High School had eight top-ten finishers and one first-place national qualifier among various categories during the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Annual State Leadership Conference in Springfield this month. The 18 competitors from MHS performed well against competition with 73 other chapters from around the state.

MHS seniors earn Evans Scholarship

MHS seniors Sergio Rodriguez and Adam Adaska have earned the prestigious Chick Evans Scholarship for golf caddies that covers tuition and housing for all four years. Both will be attending the University of Illinois-Chicago next year.
