HallowSTEAM Night - October 23

HallowSteam is a Halloween based event hosted by MHS that focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Kids ages pre-k through 8th grade can come with their families and participate in a variety of not-so-spooky fun and educational activities. Participants will have the opportunity to design the perfect protection for a dropping egg, code their way to a new bracelet, pot their very own plant, explore the stars and so much more while getting cool prizes and takeaways!

Class of ‘62 grad offers advice from a lifetime

Shortly before 8 a.m. on Friday, Mike Jaroch walked into Mundelein High School and looked around at his surroundings in awe. A member of the school’s first graduating class in 1962, he couldn’t believe he was finally back at MHS to speak to students. “It’s unreal to be back here 60 years after graduation,” he said. “It was here, in this building, at this place, that I began to come to life as a person.”

Espionage Comedy features MHS underclassmen

The future of Mundelein Theatre will be on display on the Mundelein High School stage in an upcoming production of the espionage comedy, Spy School, by Don Zolidis. The cast, made up mostly of 30 freshmen and sophomores, is known as the New Faces production. The show also includes some juniors who have not been in a mainstage production as MHS.

Mundelein Theatre to present Metamorphoses

Mundelein Theatre will present Metamorphoses, a show filled with gorgeous imagery, powerful moments and breathtaking storytelling, from Oct. 27-29. Originally written and directed by Mary Zimmerman, a founding member of the Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago, the show is a creative theatricalization of Roman poet Ovid’s masterwork of both well-known and rarely told myths of transformation and creation.

After 18 years at Mundelein Theatre, Jonathan Meier preps for Show No. 100

When Mundelein Theatre members perform “Metamorphosis” the last weekend in October, it will mark the 100th show produced during the tenure of Theatre Director Jonathan Meier. It’s a landmark worth noting because of the department’s growth during Meier’s 18 years of leadership. Things look quite different from when he started at the Theatre Department.

Mental health awareness program offers hope for student-athletes

Mark and Kym Hilinski’s voices cracked as they told the emotional story of their son Tyler’s life and death from suicide. More than 300 student-athletes in the MHS Auditorium didn’t utter a sound. No one moved a muscle. Speaking softly from the podium, Kym talked about her son and described a competitive, friendly, good-natured young man that many student-athletes could relate to. “He loved his high school. He loved his sport. He loved his teammates and he loved his coaches."

Zen Den opens in Transition Center

The room is small, comfortable and calming. Soft lights glisten off earth-toned walls, providing a serene setting for a pair of armchairs and ottomans. It’s unlike any other room in the D120 Transition Center. The new “Zen Den” is designed to provide a sensory space for those in need of respite from the stresses of daily life. More specifically, it was built for the participants of the Transition Center, adults 18-22 years old.

MHS promotes Libert to new Assistant Principal role

MHS staff member Stevee Libert has been named to the new role of Assistant Principal of Student Life. Stevee, who most recently served as the Fine Arts Department Chair, has proven her administrative skills through serving as both summer school assistant principal and principal along with her focus on student success through credit recovery. This is the third leadership addition of the summer at MHS.​

MHS selects new associate principal

Mundelein High School, which recently named Alexandria Taylor as its new principal, has added a new associate principal to its team. Michael Souza was selected by an interviewing committee of teachers, department chairs, and District personnel. The District 120 School Board approved the hiring and he started working on July 18.

Mundelein School Districts 75 and 120 will come together for two separate events to help heal the Highland Park community following the tragedy that occurred on July 4.

MHS Tennis honors former stars

MHS honored former Mustang tennis stars Ari Dechter, Class of ‘13, Ryan Jump, Class of ‘12 and Paige Parola, Class of ‘11 during its inaugural Ring of Honor awards on June 12. The Ring of Honor is designed to honor players and coaches who have made a great contribution to the program. Players are given this recognition both for achievements playing tennis at MHS and achievements since leaving high school. Coaches will be awarded for their work, their success and their efforts for MHS Tennis.

Mustang News Team Wins 15 State Awards

The staff of the student-produced school newspaper, the Mustang, ended the school year with 15 awards from the Illinois Journalism Education Association’s Newspaper & Digital Media Contest, Division 3. The staff received six staff awards, including two second place awards, for Best Overall Design and Best Front-Page Design. They took third place for Best Centerspread Story Package and three honorable mentions for Best Website, Best Hybrid Publication and Best Overall Publication.

D120 names Alexandria Rios Taylor as new MHS Principal

The District 120 Board of Education named Alexandria Rios Taylor as the new principal of Mundelein High School. She will begin at MHS on July 1. Taylor spent the last four years as an administrator at Glenbard High School District 87, first as a Dean of Students and Equity Coordinator at Glenbard West High School and the last two years as assistant principal of Glenbard East High School. She previously taught Spanish at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville for 11 years.

MHS sends five candidates to Boys and Girls State

Five Mundelein High School students were selected to attend American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State. Boys State candidates include senior John Chambers and juniors Ronan Robles and Matthew Willis. Girls State attendees are juniors Alicia Brak and Leila Moon. Both programs will be held in June at Eastern Illinois University. Boys and Girls State provides an immersive experience in the democratic process.

School nurses shine in Mundelein schools

Well before the pandemic hit, school nurses were taking care of much more than skinned knees, bloody noses and the occasional breakouts of head lice. COVID-19 certainly highlighted the importance of school nurses, but these health care professionals have always played a critical role in our students’ education. Districts 75 and 120 will pay tribute to its nursing team during National School Nurse Day on Wednesday, May 11.

A creepy, kooky musical comedy at Mundelein Theatre

It has been nearly three years since Mundelein Theatre has been able to stage a fully produced musical at Mundelein High School. That will soon change, as they will be presenting The Addams Family – A New Musical Comedy. The show runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 28, 29 and 30 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 30 at 2 p.m. Tickets, $14 for adults and $8 for students and seniors, can be purchased online by going to www.mundeleintheatre.org, or at the door 45 minutes prior to performances.​

Future Business Leaders Win at State

Mundelein High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) landed seven students in the top ten places during the state competition on April 1 and 2. Three students qualified to go on to the FBLA National Leadership Conference competition which will be held in Chicago on June 24-27. Isaac Fuksman, Kurt Dumblauskas, and Victoria Zherebna all qualified to go on to the FBLA nationals in Chicago. While only students who place fourth or higher are eligible to go on to the national competition.​

MHS takes first in remote sensing at Science Olympiad Regional

The Mundelein High School Science Olympiad team placed in 11 of 23 events including a first place finish in remote sensing during the College of Lake County’s Illinois Science Olympiad Regionals. The competition was held virtually on March 12. Each of the 23 events included two students each from Varsity and JV teams at MHS. While MHS did not advance to the state competition this year, the team is aiming for that level next year.

Mundelein High School senior Miguel Hernandez has earned plenty of accolades from his play on the football field and his achievements in the classroom. But on March 4, he added another to the list: The Chicago Bears Community High School All-Star Award. The award recognizes high school football players who make a positive impact in their community and school. Miguel was the first of nine winners from throughout the state who are chosen because they exemplify service, leadership and character.

MHS artists receive $1.4 m. in scholarships; prepare for IHSAE Exhibition

Mundelein High School students received a combined $1.42 million of tuition scholarship this year and will represent MHS and compete for top prizes at the 2022 Illinois High School Art Exhibition (IHSAE) hosted by Art ConnecteED on Sunday, March 13. These students are selected across eight different categories or from submitted scholarship portfolios. The event includes the best student artists from 100 Illinois suburban, public and private high schools.

Joanna Rodriguez, an administrative assistant at Mundelein High School, has been named a recipient of the “Those Who Excel” award by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). The Board honored her with a meritorious service award in the category of educational service personnel. A graduate of Mundelein High School and a first-generation student, Joanna is often the first face to greet many MHS students and parents.

MHS newspaper, yearbook staffs win awards for 2020-21

Mundelein High School’s yearbook staff followed in the footsteps of its award-winning newspaper staff this month, receiving top honors in the Illinois Journalism Education Association (IJEA) contest. The award, given to the last year’s yearbook staff on Feb. 1, follows the second place International Award presented in the fall to last year’s newspaper staff for Quill & Scroll’s 2021 News Media Evaluation. The yearbook earned awards in eight of nine categories and second in overall excellence.

MHS Football program a finalist for national award

The Mundelein High School football program is one of three in Illinois to be chosen as a finalist in the inaugural National Football Foundation’s (NFF) Academic Excellence Award. The NFF will announce the winner of its National High School Academic Excellence Award from among 62 finalists in 13 states on Feb. 9. The initiative is designed to inspire and foster a culture of academic excellence on high school football teams throughout the nation.

Mundelein Theatre presents murder mystery

If you like to laugh, then Mundelein Theatre has the show for you. “The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940” is a fun, silly, comical whodunit that will keep you guessing as to the identity of the killer at the center of its murder mystery plot. The show runs on Thursday-Saturday, February 3, 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. There is a 3:45 p.m. matinee on Friday, February 4. Additionally, there will be a performance on Saturday, February 5 at 2 p.m. featuring the understudy cast.

MHS alumnus returns on a mission of equity and opportunity

Trey Baker walked down the halls of his old high school like the conquering hero. Teachers and students called out his name, waved, or stopped for a quick hug. The Class of ‘21 Mundelein High School graduate returned Dec. 15 not just to visit old friends and teachers, but to advance a program very near and dear to his heart: mentoring young men of color and helping them find pathways to opportunity. His visit - and his mission - caught the attention of the news media.

MHS students recognized as State Scholars

Mundelein High School Principal Anthony Kroll has announced that 52 students from the MHS graduating class of 2022 have been recognized as Illinois State Scholars. “We’re extremely proud of these students for being recognized as Illinois State Scholars and wish them well in their preparations for the next phase of their lives,” Kroll said. The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) presents this important recognition of academic achievement to exceptional Illinois students annually.

MHS Jazz Ensemble prepares for memorable performances

December will be more than just a busy month for the Mundelein High School Jazz Ensemble. It will be a month to remember. The group will have three performances, two of them away from school, all between Dec. 12 and 16. It is the December 16 performance at the Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference that will stand out for students. Held at McCormick Place in Chicago, the Clinic is the world’s largest instrumental music education conference.

New Faces performs holiday play

The future of Mundelein Theatre will be on display on the Mundelein High School stage in their upcoming production of A Wicked Christmas Carol, by Bobby Keniston. This is a delightful and heartwarming holiday play that is great for the entire family. The story is an ingenious combination of two classic stories, A Christmas Carol and The Wizard of Oz. The show will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11, 12 and 13, and at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11.

Two MHS students earn rare perfect score on an AP exam

The College Board has announced that two Mundelein High School students earned perfect scores on its Advanced Placement (AP) Exam in spring 2021. Hannah Cho, who graduated in May, and Steffen Brown, now a MHS senior, were among a select number of students worldwide to earn every point possible on the AP Exam in a particular subject. Hannah was one of 46 students to earn a perfect score in 3-D Art and Design. Steffen was one of 335 students to earn a perfect score in Computer Science Principles.

One would think that after a lifetime of coaching, teaching and community service and a long list of accolades, there would be nothing more of Frank Giannamore’s life to highlight. Yet the honors keep coming. On Friday Oct. 22, the retired Mundelein High School football coach was presented a plaque welcoming him into the 2021 Lake County High School Sports Hall of Fame. Fittingly, the event was a halftime ceremony during the MHS Mustangs final home football game of the season.

Mundelein High school juniors Sriharikrishna (Sri) Gaddam and Diego Prado were recently selected as the two representatives from Mundelein High School for the Congressman Brad Schneider’s (D-Deerfield) STEAM Scholars program. The program aims to connect highly-motivated students interested in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics with hands-on learning experiences throughout the 10th congressional district.

Volleyball team hosts Cancer Awareness Night

The Mundelein High School Girls Volleyball team will host its Cancer Awareness Night on Wednesday, Oct. 20 in memory of Kristen Meister, a Mundelein teacher who passed away last summer. All proceeds raised will go to The Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation in memory of Kristen. The Mundelein High School Girls Varsity Volleyball teams will match up against Zion-Benton in the MHS gym. Freshman A & Sophomores play at 5 pm, and Freshman B & Varsity play at 6 pm.

When Art Gonzales was in high school, he wanted to become a doctor. But he didn’t think he was smart enough. So his dream faded away in time. He didn’t have any other aspirations and went to community college without a plan. It would be six years before he earned a college degree and eight more years before he started his career. MHS inducts 75 members to National Honor Society

Mundelein High School inducted 61 students into the National Honor Society (NHS) in a ceremony held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 4 at the high school. The inductees were chosen by a faculty selection committee based on the four principles of NHS, namely character, scholarship, leadership and service. NHS Faculty Advisor Aaron Dame and NHS Chapter President Cameron Gilbert opened the ceremony followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by NHS Member Bianca Rico.

Distinguished Alumnus meets with Chemistry students

During his time at Mundelein High School, Chris Wetteland may not have imagined himself teaching the science class. But 28 years removed from his graduation, that’s exactly what Dr. Wetteland did. The former student was in town during Homecoming Weekend to accept an award as one of seven Distinguished Alumni. On Friday, he made a stop in the high school, visited with MHS Science Department Chair David Greenwood, and led a portion of Jackie Hogan’s Advanced Placement (AP) Chemistry class.

The program honors alumni who have excelled in a chosen profession, community service, civic involvement and more. As JoAnne Celba leaned out the window of the white 1966 Mustang to wave during the Mundelein High School Homecoming Parade, the trip down Hawley Street must have brought back plenty of memories. The Vernon Hills resident was part of the first class to graduate MHS after the school opened exactly 60 years ago. One thing she remembered was how her friends were upset about leaving Libertyville High School after the 1960-61 school year.

National Merit Scholarship Corp commends three MHS students

Three students at Mundelein High School received a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Issac Fuksman, Elaina Kasamis and Ethan Nelsen join 34,000 students nationwide as Commended Students and are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. District 120 School Board earns governance recognition honor

The District 120 School Board earned state recognition for their effective governance behaviors, the Illinois Association of School Boards announced. The Board was one of 35 Illinois school districts honored with the School Board Governance Recognition. It recognizes the Board’s effective governance behaviors and their commitment toward obtaining the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively govern the district.

MHS art teacher named best in state

The Illinois Art Education Association named MHS teacher Jonathan Pruc the 2021 IAEA High School Art Educator of the Year. The group’s awards and scholarship committee cited Pruc’s professional performance, service and leadership as exemplary. “Jonathan is an educator who thinks outside the box, looks at art and education through a critical lens and constantly works to connect and engage his students in their learning,” according to a statement from the IAEA.

MHS to honor seven distinguished alumni

The public is invited to attend the Mundelein High School 2021 Distinguished Alumni Awards Luncheon honoring seven MHS graduates. The event will take place at noon on Saturday, September 25, at the West District Office, 1500 Hawley Street (adjacent to the high school campus). The cost of the event is $12 per person. Jewel donates PPE to schools

About a week before the new school year began in Mundelein, Jewel-Osco made a significant donation of face masks and hand sanitizer to School Districts 75 and 120. The retailer presented school officials with 3,400 face masks and 1,100 bottles of hand sanitizer. The donation was facilitated by Dr. Yara Lucht, the Osco Pharmacy Manager who also happens to be a Mundelein resident and District 75 parent. The timing was good because Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker had just mandated masks for all student​

Jasmine Moreno, an MHS 2021 AVID program graduate, just received news that she is a Golden Apple Scholar. Jazz Ensemble to present free concert in the park

The Mundelein High School Jazz Ensemble will perform an outdoor concert at Kracklauer Park in Mundelein on Saturday, May 22 from 5 to 6:30 pm. Three MHS students have been selected to represent Mundelein High School at the 2021 session of American Legion Auxiliary Illinois Girls State. The program, to be presented virtually June 21-25, provides immersive instruction in the democratic process. The students are Anett Lorado, Giselle Prado and Marisa Spada. COVID VACCINES AT MHS FOR AGES 12 AND OVER

Mundelein High School will host COVID-19 vaccinations for anyone 12 years of age and older on Thursday, May 27 from 3 to 9 pm. Approximately 52 people can be vaccinated every 50 minutes during this time frame.

Community holds School Supply Distribution for area families

The Mundelein community held a School Supplies Distribution event for area families in need of school supplies to start the new school year. One hundred fifty bags of supplies were distributed to students who attend districts 75, 76 and 120. The community collected supplies and, in addition, the Mundelein Citizens’ Police Academy Alumni Association, the Mundelein Latino Police Academy Alumni Association and the Mundelein Police Department partnered together and made a $750 donation to the drive.​

Twenty-one students from the Isle of Martinique visited Mundelein High School Jan. 23 to meet MHS students with whom they have been corresponding as pen pals. The event was coordinated by Marty Ambrey, French instructor at MHS. The day’s activities included both formal and informal opportunities for the visiting students to spend time with their MHS counterparts. Cultural Fair at MHS includes evening events for area residents

Mundelein High School’s Robotics Team scored another big win at the VEX Robotics Competition held in Huntley, IL Dec. 14. Mundelein High School’s Orchesis Group will present its Winter Show Monday, Dec. 16 beginning at 7 p.m. in the MHS Auditorium. Tickets are $4 for adults and $3 for students with ID. MHS Robotics competed this Saturday, November 16, at a VEX Robotics Competition hosted in Chicago. One of MHS Robotics teams was undefeated (8-0-1) and eventually became tournament champions beating other teams from nine different high schools. Kerrith Whyte of the Chicago Bears was at Mundelein High School Tuesday, Nov. 12 to assist with collecting and sorting items for the new Welcome Center that recently opened at the District 120 Office Building. Welcome Center relocates; donations appreciated

Consumers Cooperative Association, sponsor of Consumers Credit Union, announced the winners of 16, $2,000 academic scholarships at the joint annual meeting of the two organizations. Mundelein High School’s Red Zone Club is sponsoring the Second Annual Mustang Golf Scramble to take place at Steeple Chase Golf Club June 20. Civics Fair draws large crowds

Band Concert to preview New Orleans trip repertoire

Mundelein High School’s four concert bands will be featured in a free concert Wednesday, March 13 at 7 p.m. in the MHS Auditorium. MHS to host Bilingual Access College Fair

Mundelein High School will host the Access College Fair, the second annual bilingual college fair in Lake County on Wednesday, April 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Main Gym. MHS to hold Civics Fair March 14

For the second year, Mundelein High School will hold a Civics Fair featuring Advanced Placement (AP) US and Comparative Government students. The event will take place Thursday, March 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the high school’s commons area. Rodriguez earns scholarship for summer at NYU

Mundelein High School junior, Allan Rodriguez, has landed a summer scholarship to study film at New York University Tisch School of the Arts. The scholarship amounts to about $12 thousand that covers tuition, meals, housing, insurance, weekend events, etc. The program is a four-week college course during the summer where students from all over the world go to study film

Poetry Slam Team earns honors at Adler Music and Arts Center

Members of the Mundelein High School Poetry Slam Team took part with a number of other schools at the Young Blood Spoken Word and Pop-Up Art Show at the David Adler Music and Arts Center in Libertyville on March 3. Several members of the group earned honors for their work. Team members include Raegan Duym, Isabelle Jurasz, Meghan Mathys and Rose Rosell.

The 54th Annual Mundelein Invitational will take place at Mundelein High School on Saturday, March 9. Forty-two high school and middle school jazz bands/combos will participate in performances and clinics throughout the day critiqued by 10 noted clinicians. Mundelein High School's Business Incubator students and staff will host presentations on Wednesday, March 6, by the founders of SnapClips, a product that they "pitched" to the entrepreneurs on the television show, "Shark Tank." At the end of their presentation, a combined offer of $150,000 for 30 percent equity in the business was made by Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner and Alex Rodriguez, and accepted. ​

For the past three years Mundelein High School students have swept the first through third place finishes in the American Legion Americanism Essay Contest. They did it again for 2019 taking the top awards.

2014 grad named Fulbright Scholar

Adina Cianciotto, MHS Class of 2014 and a 2018 graduate of Northwestern University, was recently named a Fulbright Scholar and will work and study abroad. Cianciotto is already doing research in cognitive neuroscience in several laboratories and is published in the Journal of Cognition and Neuroethics. ​

2015 grad claims SEC Title for Auburn

2015 MHS grad, Erin Falconer, claimed the first SEC Title of her career on Thursday at the 2019 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships, winning the 200 free to claim Auburn’s first individual conference title since 2017.

Mr. Mustang Contest Friday, Feb. 22

Fourteen seniors will compete for the title of Mr. Mustang during an evening of entertainment at Mundelein High School Friday, Feb. 22 beginning at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Cost for admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students, seniors and children. The theme for the evening is A Night at the Movies. ​

Robotics Team competes in California; meets with MHS alum at Google

The MHS Robotics Team flew to California Feb. 15 to compete in a Signature Event, VEX Robotics Tournament, hosted by Google. The competition is a nationwide, invitation-only event, reserved for those who have won tournaments and/or received distinguished awards in their respective states. MHS Robotics was the only team to represent Illinois.

Two Mundelein High School seniors, Diego Cisneros and Jillian Hoffstadt, have been chosen for the 2018-2019 Daily Herald Lake County Leadership Team. MHS welcomes new head football coach

The Mundelein High School District 120 Board of Education has approved the hiring of Vince DeFrancesco as head varsity football coach and wellness teacher beginning with the 2019-2020 school year. DeFrancesco will replace Head Coach Larry Calhoun who stepped down from that role at the close of the 2018 football season.

MHS to host El Baile Latin Dance Feb. 23; workshops Feb. 12, 13

Based on the success of last year’s first El Baile Latin Dance, the MHS Puertas Latin Culture Club will host the second one Feb. 23 from 7 to 10 p.m. in the main gym. Participants in the Transition Program at MHS threw a thank-you party for the members of the Facilities and Maintenance staff. They were extremely impressed with the way the staffs handled all the bad weather issues, especially the quick and efficient snow removal.

Junior chosen to study in Shanghai, China

Christopher Mora, an MHS juunior, will study Chinese Language and Culture in Shanghai, China this summer. He is looking forward to learning Mandarin and also learning about the culture.

Glenn Earich, a writer for Second City in Chicago, visited with students in Jim Drier’s Honors English class Jan. 23.An Ohio State University graduate, Earich also has been teaching at the Second City Training Center since 2000.

New policy for building entrance after hours

Beginning Monday, January 28, all exterior doors at the high school campus will be locked after dismissal and entry for all after school activities will only be through the main entrance, Door ONE (1). The lower level parking lot near the stadium should become the secondary parking area for after hour activities.

STAND-UP celebrates 10 years with Mundelein Youth

– In August of 2007, after tragic accidents in Lake County that claimed the lives of teens due to underage drinking and other drug use, several local leaders in Mundelein including the Mundelein Police Department, Nicasa Behavioral Health Services, and the Lake County After School Coalition (LCASC), formed the Mundelein STAND-UP Task Force to prevent such incidents from occurring in Mundelein.

Rep. Brad Schneider to host information session about US Service Academy appointments

Good evening/Buenas noches, Congressman Schneider is pleased to announce that he and Mundelein High School will host a U.S. Service Academy information session for students and families interested in applying for one of these very selective institutions. The event will be on August 22, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Mundelein High School (1350 W Hawley St Mundelein, IL 60060).

Public invited to Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony

Ten Mundelein High School graduates have been selected from a field of 35 nominees for the first annual Distinguished Alumni Award Ceremony and Banquet to be held Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Double Tree Hotel in Mundelein. All members of the Mundelein community and the MHS family are invited to attend.​

MHS welcomes Officer Stephen Balogh as new SRO

Officer Stephen Balogh of the Mundelein Police Department will join the Mundelein High School staff as School Resource Officer [SRO] when school opens Aug. 14. Balogh will succeed Officer Sarah Wirth who has a new assignment with the MPD.

Parola to step down as varsity baseball coach

Mundelein High School’s head varsity baseball coach, Todd Parola, has decided to resign from his coaching position that he began in 1995. This is one year after his team was in the State Championship game. Parola has cited wanting to have more leisure time and to be able to follow his children’s college careers as a reason for his resignation.

Mustang Triathlon June 4; May 22 early registration deadline

The Mundelein High School Triathlon Club will host its annual Mustang Triathlon Sunday, June 4 at 7 a.m. on the MHS outdoor track. Cost is $10 for MHS students and staff, payable at the bookstore and $15 for community residents payable through RevTrak on the school’s website.
