After 18 years at Mundelein Theatre, Jonathan Meier preps for Show No. 100

When Mundelein Theatre members perform “Metamorphosis” the last weekend in October, it will mark the 100th show produced during the tenure of Theatre Director Jonathan Meier. It’s a landmark worth noting because of the department’s growth during Meier’s 18 years of leadership. Things look quite different from when he started at the Theatre Department.

Mental health awareness program offers hope for student-athletes

Mark and Kym Hilinski’s voices cracked as they told the emotional story of their son Tyler’s life and death from suicide. More than 300 student-athletes in the MHS Auditorium didn’t utter a sound. No one moved a muscle. Speaking softly from the podium, Kym talked about her son and described a competitive, friendly, good-natured young man that many student-athletes could relate to. “He loved his high school. He loved his sport. He loved his teammates and he loved his coaches."

Zen Den opens in Transition Center

The room is small, comfortable and calming. Soft lights glisten off earth-toned walls, providing a serene setting for a pair of armchairs and ottomans. It’s unlike any other room in the D120 Transition Center. The new “Zen Den” is designed to provide a sensory space for those in need of respite from the stresses of daily life. More specifically, it was built for the participants of the Transition Center, adults 18-22 years old.

Mundelein Theatre kicks off 2022-23 season

Mundelein Theatre will begin its season with An Evening of Student Directed One Acts. This year there will be six short plays, all directed by Mundelein High School seniors. The plays will be presented on Monday, September 12 and Tuesday, September 13 at 7:30 pm in the MHS Auditorium. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased at the door 30 minutes prior to each performance (cash or check only).
