D120 names Alexandria Rios Taylor as new MHS Principal

The District 120 Board of Education named Alexandria Rios Taylor as the new principal of Mundelein High School. She will begin at MHS on July 1. Taylor spent the last four years as an administrator at Glenbard High School District 87, first as a Dean of Students and Equity Coordinator at Glenbard West High School and the last two years as assistant principal of Glenbard East High School. She previously taught Spanish at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville for 11 years.

MHS sends five candidates to Boys and Girls State

Five Mundelein High School students were selected to attend American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State. Boys State candidates include senior John Chambers and juniors Ronan Robles and Matthew Willis. Girls State attendees are juniors Alicia Brak and Leila Moon. Both programs will be held in June at Eastern Illinois University. Boys and Girls State provides an immersive experience in the democratic process.

School nurses shine in Mundelein schools

Well before the pandemic hit, school nurses were taking care of much more than skinned knees, bloody noses and the occasional breakouts of head lice. COVID-19 certainly highlighted the importance of school nurses, but these health care professionals have always played a critical role in our students’ education. Districts 75 and 120 will pay tribute to its nursing team during National School Nurse Day on Wednesday, May 11.

A creepy, kooky musical comedy at Mundelein Theatre

It has been nearly three years since Mundelein Theatre has been able to stage a fully produced musical at Mundelein High School. That will soon change, as they will be presenting The Addams Family – A New Musical Comedy. The show runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 28, 29 and 30 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 30 at 2 p.m. Tickets, $14 for adults and $8 for students and seniors, can be purchased online by going to www.mundeleintheatre.org, or at the door 45 minutes prior to performances.

Future Business Leaders Win at State

Mundelein High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) landed seven students in the top ten places during the state competition on April 1 and 2. Three students qualified to go on to the FBLA National Leadership Conference competition which will be held in Chicago on June 24-27. Isaac Fuksman, Kurt Dumblauskas, and Victoria Zherebna all qualified to go on to the FBLA nationals in Chicago. While only students who place fourth or higher are eligible to go on to the national competition.
