Alum takes first place in national film competition

Last week the National Academy of Arts and Sciences Foundation (NATAS), (the same group that presents Emmys each year to professionals in the television and film industry) presented awards from a variety of categories for high school student work submitted across the nation. Byte Club takes first in state competition

On Saturday, February 13, a few members of the Mundelein High School Byte Club participated in a national coding competition sponsored by the prestigious Colorado School of Mines. One team made up of Kajal Patel, Steffen Brown, and Peter Zakariya, won first in the state of Illinois. The competition included high school students from all over America, who were given 15 math and logic problems that had to be solved entirely with code in any language of their choice. MHS senior, Trey Baker, has been selected to participate in the 2021 High School American Family 3-Point Contest Fan Vote in Indianapolis during the Final 4 games on CBS. The first round of voting is now open through Monday, Feb. 22. Fans may only vote once each day through the deadline. Former and current AP Government students at Mundelein will host a virtual Candidate Forum via ZOOM for residents to get to know the candidates in the upcoming local election. The event will be held on two nights, Tuesday, Feb. 23 and Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 6 pm. Mayoral candidates will be available one evening while Trustee candidates will speak on the other. Sophomore earns national recognition for COVID-19 research

Hussain Razvi, a sophomore in Mundelein High School’s Project Lead the Way (PLTW)-Honors Principles of Engineering course, was recognized in Samsung’s recent “Solve for Tomorrow” competition. Thanks to Razvi, Mundelein High School was one of only two high schools from Illinois to be recognized in this nationwide contest designed to boost interest and proficiency in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Romance, relationships take center stage at Mundelein Theatre

For their winter play offering, Mundelein Theatre is presenting LOVE/SICK, by John Cariani. The play is described as a collection of ten slightly twisted and completely hilarious short plays, which explores the pain and the joy that comes with being in love. MHS student forming new club, Girls Who Code

The world of computer coding is widely male dominated but that isn’t stopping a Mundelein High School student from wanting to break into that field and have others join her as well. Kajal Patel, an MHS junior, has begun the formal process of having a Girls Who Code club at the high school. It is a process involving many criteria, set rules, a “pilot” year and at least 15 solid members. “I got the idea to start a Girls Who Code chapter after hearing about their summer program,” Patel explained

2021 Mundelein High School STEM Explorers Scholarship Application Founded in 2018, the Mundelein STEM Explorers (MHS STEM-X) Scholarship provides immersive STEM opportunities to promising students who are interested in STEM topics and careers.
