Mundelein school boards name next superintendent

School Boards from both Mundelein School Districts 75 and 120 on Tuesday named Dr. Corey Tafoya as the next superintendent to lead within its shared services model. Tafoya, currently the Superintendent of Harvard Community Unit School District 50, will take over the leadership of retiring Mundelein Superintendent Dr. Kevin Myers beginning on July 1.

Hard work nets awards for MHS Show Choir

Mundelein High School’s Show Choir is picking up plenty of awards during the current competition season, hardware that is well-earned, according to MHS Choir Director Cory Thompson. “The kids have come in very willing to work and that has paid off for them,” Thompson said.

MHS students excel at FBLA Conference competition

Mundelein High School FBLA students had a number of top-10 finishers in various categories during the 2025 Northern Area Conference at the College of Lake County in Grayslake. They will next compete at the end of March at the State Competition in Springfield. The 2025 Northern Area Conference included schools and students participated in more than 70 events. MHS students either took objective tests or gave live/recorded presentations on a wide variety of topics.

Students compete to fund charity groups

Seasonal giving and classroom learning blended seamlessly at MHS on Dec. 12 as Honors English 4 students presented a case for giving to the charity of their choice. The Third Annual Honors English Charitable Outreach Project was more than just an academic lesson in public speaking; the winning presentation received nearly $1,000 toward their charity.

MHS Teacher Leads Group Supporting Educators of Color

While that sign may be meant for her students, Aguirre will be living those words during the next two years as the new facilitator of an affinity group at MHS designed to support educators of color.

MHS Soccer's Dayton named Assistant Coach of the Year

A Crazy Murder Mystery at Mundelein Theatre

The future of Mundelein Theatre will be on display on the Mundelein High School stage in the upcoming production of “Noses Off”, by Don Zolidis. Known as the New Faces production, the cast is made up primarily of freshman and sophomore students. The show will be performed on Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 14-16 at 7:30 pm, as well as 2 pm show on Saturday.

Engineering Internship could land MHS grad back at high school
