Sixty-three MHS students named Illinois State Scholars

This prestigious award, granted by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), identifies graduating high school seniors who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and exceptional potential for success in higher education.

MHS recognized for student success in Advanced Placement program

Mundelein High School has been named to the College Board’s 2024 Advanced Placement Program (AP) School Honor Roll, earning a Silver distinction. The recognition shows improvement at MHS, which earned a Bronze distinction in 2023. “This award reflects the hard work of our students, the support of their families, and the dedication of our exceptional faculty,” said Stacey Gorman, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.

Mundelein High School's infrastructure is aging beyond repair

Mundelein High School was the pride of the Mundelein area when it opened in 1961. Its 680-square-foot classrooms had seating for 20 desks. The building had a cutting-edge boiler system, glass block windows in the hallway, and an auditorium for band, orchestra, and theater programs. In the 63 years since it opened, these areas, along with the competition gym and the kitchen and cafeteria, have seen little change.

Classic 1930's Comedy Opens Mundelein Theatre Season

“The Philadelphia Story” was a wildly successful film in 1940. It was also made into a popular movie musical in 1956 (High Society). But this classic comedy began its life on the Broadway stage in 1948, and will be coming to the Mundelein Theatre stage this fall. Performances will be held on Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 17, 18, and 19 at 7:30 p.m. There is also a performance on Friday, Oct. 18 at 3:45 p.m.

MHS to host referendum building tour Oct. 10

Mundelein High School will host a third building tour on Thursday, Oct. 10 to inform the community about its upcoming referendum. The event will begin at 7 p.m. at Mundelein High School, 1350 W. Hawley Street. The $149.5 million referendum would fund a plan designed to replace aging infrastructure, upgrade instructional spaces, enhance career and technical education spaces, make health, safety and security improvements, and address overcrowding issues.

More than 16,000 students achieved the distinction of National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists, representing less than 1 percent of high school seniors in the U.S.

Mundelein High School to host webinar on building referendum

MHS to host referendum building tours

Mundelein High School will host a series of three building tours in September and October to inform the community about its upcoming referendum. Each event will run from 7 to 8 p.m. at Mundelein High School, with the first tour scheduled for Wednesday, September 11. The next two events will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 1 and Thursday, Oct. 10. The District will also host an informational webinar regarding the referendum on the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Mundelein High School Faces Overcrowding Crisis

When the morning bell rings each day at Mundelein High School, more than 2,200 students squeeze through the hallways—designed for just 1,500. This chaotic start to each day has become the daily reality of a school bursting at the seams. “The school, which was built in the 1950s, isn’t equipped to handle the increase in our student population and the evolution of the learning environment,” said Kevin Myers, Superintendent of Mundelein School District 120.
