Mundelein High School’s head varsity baseball coach, Todd Parola, has decided to resign from his coaching position that he began in 1995. This is one year after his team was in the State Championship game. Parola has cited wanting to have more leisure time and to be able to follow his children’s college careers as a reason for his resignation.

In 22 seasons, Parola has won 603 baseball games as a head coach. During his tenure, Mundelein has had consistently improving teams. They have won regional championships in 2007-2008, 2009-2010, 2011-2012, and 2013-2017; sectional championships in 2013-2014, 2014-2015, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017. His team also won the Super Sectional and made it to the State Championship game last year.

In addition to teaching wellness courses, Parola has also coached football, boys basketball and boys golf along with baseball. He will continue to be on the MHS teaching staff.

“To win 603 games in 22 seasons is an incredible number,” said MHS Athletic Director Troy Parola. “With a number of regional, sectional and super sectional titles and many 30+ win seasons, he has had an outstanding coaching career.”

In January, Todd Parola was named Class 4A Area Coach of the Year by the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association. MHS pitcher Brendan Murphy also just signed with the Milwaukee Brewers.
