School opens Aug. 14 for all students; freshman orientation Aug. 9

Mundelein High School will open its doors to the new school year on Monday, Aug. 14, for all students.

Freshman Orientation will take place Wednesday, Aug. 9, from 7:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Buses will take students to and from the school and lunch will be provided. Additional food items will be available for sale. During the Orientation, freshmen will take part in an interactive assembly led by the school’s Link Crew, a student organization which works with freshmen as they transition from middle school to high school. Freshmen will also have both their ID and yearbook photos taken, they will tour the school building and locate their scheduled classrooms.  They also will receive their Chromebooks before the orientation concludes.

All students will report for the first day beginning at 7:45 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 14. Students will attend all their classes on the new eight-period schedule which was implemented to replace the block schedule which was ended at the close of the 2016-2017 school year.

Several new staff members will be joining the MHS family this new school year. They include Ericka Arias, Spanish teacher; Anthony Crespo, assistant principal; Gregory Dorgan, math teacher; Jennifer Hart, special education instructional aide; Allen Holcomb, special education instructional aide; Wendy Inman, special education teacher; Sarah Iuorio-Davis, special education teacher; Robert [Andy] Johnson, special education teacher; Christopher Novak, social worker; Kelly Schur, special education case manager; Naomi Seiler, special education instructional aide; Chris Sellers, security; Craig Stocker, wellness teacher; Kandace Tyrrell, assistant special education department chair; and Kasiani Vlahakis, social studies teacher.
