As usual, Mundelein High School will be the first high school in the area to start the school year with Freshman Orientation on Friday, Aug. 5 and all students returning on Tuesday, Aug. 9. Staff will return Monday, Aug. 8. The new building addition, to include a STEM lab, multiple science/math labs, a Business Incubator lab and multi-use classrooms will be open and ready for the new school year.
On Friday, Aug. 5, all freshmen will report to the school at 7:30 a.m. They will meet with members of Link Crew, a student group that helps incoming freshmen transition from middle to high school. The new freshmen will receive their Chromebooks, ID cards and schedules, they will take part in Link Crew group activities and have lunch provided by Quest. Students may also purchase additional food during that time. The day will conclude at 1 p.m.
Following the Monday, Aug. 8 staff institute day, all students will report for their first day of school on Tuesday, Aug. 9, from 7:45 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.
The much-anticipated opening of the $23.6 million building addition will coincide with the opening of school. A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony and Open House for the public will take place during Homecoming Weekend on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
