Fresh off their Jan. 25 victories in Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, the Mundelein High School show choirs did it again, this time at the Fort Atkinson, WI Showcase.

Lights were named Grand Champions in the Single Gender Division; SoundFX were first runner-up in that division and Sound were named first runner-up overall (of 21 groups competing). Matthew Callas was named Best Male Soloist in Soloist competition while Kira Buckner was named Best Female Vocalist within a show.

Cory Thompson and Stevee Bellas are the vocal music directors at MHS.

The next competition will take place at Naperville North High School Saturday, Feb. 15, for the Clash of the Sequins competition. Tickets are $20 for the entire day of music. SoundFX will compete at 9:45 a.m., Lights at 11:15 a.m. and Sound at 5 p.m.

“All of the competing groups are outstanding show choirs, so it will be a wonderful day of entertainment for the audience,” Thompson said.
