Mundelein High School’s three show choirs were on the road again Feb. 15 as they competed at the Naperville North’s Clash of the Sequins event. Lights, the all-female group, was first runner-up in the single gender division and Sound, the mixed choir, made the finals, finishing the day in fifth runner-up position. The MHS Noise Band was named Best Band at the event.
“The competition drew the best show choirs from around the state of Illinois as well as schools from Wisconsin and Iowa,” said Cory Thompson, who directs the vocal music program along with Stevee Bellas.
The choirs are now preparing for their upcoming free concert Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m. in the MHS Auditorium. The concert will feature all of the MHS choral ensembles including Chorale, Bella Voce, The Noteables, Honors Concert Choir, Honors Master Singers along with Lights, SoundFX and Sound.
The show choirs will top off their competitive season with a final competition at Totino-Grace High School in Minneapolis March 7.
