Mundelein High School’s Susan Frew, scheduling assistant in the athletic department, has been named Admin of the Year by the Fox Valley Blues Umpires Association [FVB]. The organization has been presenting awards to area high school administrative assistants for the past five years. Frew is completing her first year at MHS.
According to Jeff Collis of the FVB, Frew is a standout among her peers. “Susan was new to MHS this season, but she obviously ran Athletic offices somewhere before,” he said. “In a crazy spring of field swaps, Susan was always ahead, calling officials, double checking schedules, making sure our guys got paid...an absolute blessing,” Collis explained. "And thank you Diane Risdon as well," he said.
The MHS athletic department administration includes Troy Parola, director; Diane Risdon, administrative assistant; and Frew.
The FVB serves much of the Chicago metropolitan area, ranging as far north as Zion and Rockford, south to Aurora, and west to Geneseo. Their reach includes eight high school conferences, four collegiate programs, and more than 50 summertime leagues and programs. The Fox Valley Blues have the unique distinction of officiating the MCYSA International Championships, an international baseball tournament hosted in Crystal Lake, IL. FVB is also the exclusive umpire organization for Gameday USA tournaments.
“We are unlike any organization in Illinois as our primary mission is to help our umpires achieve their officiating goals,” Collis concluded.
