Mundelein High School will be sending 12 of its top art students to the annual Illinois High School Arts Exhibition [IHSAE] taking place Sunday, Feb. 26, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Chicago. The General Exhibition will take place at the Zhou B. Art Center while the Senior Scholarship Exhibition is set for the Bridgeport Art Center.
MHS students in the General Exhibition include Michael delRosario, photography; Ryan Story, mixed media; Xochitl Cisneros, drawing; Lily Simon, painting; Stephanie Fernandez-Cahue, ceramics.
Displaying their work in the Senior Scholarship Exhibition are Emma Roswick, Nicole Casler, Jessica Peterson, Laura Kim, Robert Zengeler, Jessica Milam and Nichole Babiez.
The 2017 Senior Scholarship Exhibition includes the work of those seniors who were chosen to receive college scholarships from partnered institutions across the country. This part of the overall exhibition was only open to senior art students who submitted a developed portfolio of work through the program. This work may include work from multiple mediums, or be limited to one or two mediums; this choice is up to the student and the accompanying art instructor. These portfolios were then reviewed and selected by representatives from dozens of colleges and universities with strong art programs.
The 2017 General Exhibition and Awards presentation will be held at the Zhou B. Art Center. The Zhou brothers and the IHSAE have been partners since its inception in efforts to provide a space that allows for growth and for the Illinois community to gain exposure to the energy that the arts has in Illinois. This show will exhibit all of the student work as well as the work of the resident artists in the building.
The awards will be revealed and presented to students and families on Sunday. MHS art instructors are Jonathan Pruc, Michael Bale and Peter Schrenk. David Mork is the department chair.
